Duo Balkan was founded by Luna Piljic from Belgrade and Matej Detelj from Varazdin in 2023 in Skopje.

Luna Piljic graduated from the primary music school “Stevan Mokranjac” in the class of prof. Ana Marinković in Belgrade, and graduated from the high school of music “Kosta Manojlović” in the class of prof. Vere Bakis. She also completed a jazz course in Vrsac, in the class of prof. Ivan Maksimovic.

She has been awarded multiple times with first prize at international and national classical guitar competitions. She has worked with distinguished professors and classical guitar performers in the country and abroad such as: Anders Miolin (Switzerland), Paolo Pegoraro (Austria), Alvaro Pieri, Maya Radovanlia, (USA), Kostas Kotsiolis (Greece), Odair Asad (Brazil), and many others.

She was a scholarship recipient of the program for young talents of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Serbia and a scholarship recipient of the “Start Life” foundation.

Matej Detelj started his musical education at the “Novi Marof” primary school, and finished the secondary music school in Varaždin with professor Ninoslav Plantak. He enrolled at the Faculty of Music in Skopje in 2023 in the class of Professor Darko Bageski.

He participated in many festivals such as: the Guitar Art Festival in Belgrade, the International Guitar Show in Varaždin, the Krushevo Guitar Festival, the Ohrid Summer Guitar Academy and other numerous performances.

They enrolled in the academic studies in classical guitar at the Faculty of Music, in the class of prof. Darko Bageski, MSc.
During 2023 and 2024 they performed in Macedonia: in Salon “19 and 19” in the Cultural Information Center in Skopje on the occasion of “European Skopje Days”, at the Faculty of Philosophy on the occasion of “Philosophy Day”, at the Faculty of Philology on the occasion of “The Day of Blaže Koneski”, in the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle in Skopje, the hall of the Faculty of Music in Skopje, at the “Rhythm of the Bazaar” event in Cifte Hamam in Skopje and in Kruševo at the “XV P.S. Kruševo guitar festival”.
