Guillermo Navarro de Azaola was born in Madrid in 1971 and grew up in Gran Canaria. He graduated in Information Sciences from the University of the Basque Country (Leioa, Vizcaya 1997).

He has been dedicated to music professionally since 2003 as a percussionist, cajon teacher and luthier (he has his own brand: Camarada Percusión).

He began to learn by himself and then perfected his knowledge with prestigious teachers such as Israel Suárez “Piraña” and Lucky Losada (flamenco cajón), Rafael Santa Cruz (Peruvian cajon), Eliseo Parra, Aleix Tobías, Sergio López Santos and Carlos Herrero (traditional percussion)

He currently plays with flamenco guitarist Dani Hernández and one of their most notable recent collaborations is with Eliseo Parra (folk). He has participated in projects such as “La Camaradería” (flamenco-fusion), a group with which he performed at festivals such as Suma Flamenca (Madrid), Ellas Crean (Madrid), Burgo Jazz (La Coruña) and on other stages in Spain, Germany and the Dominican Republic; “Pascal Gaona dance company” (flamenco) that led him to work in Italy, the Dominican Republic and Morocco; “Paco Bethencourt & Friends” with whom he played at the Ciclo Mundos at the Alfredo Krauss Auditorium (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria); “Zércalo” (folk-fusion) directed by Belarusian accordionist Vadzim Yuhnevich.

In the field of teaching, he has taught cajon classes nationwide at the Amor de Dios Center of Flamenco Art and Spanish Dance (Madrid), Casa Patas Flamenco Conservatory (Madrid), Casa Joven (Segovia), Complutense University (Madrid), El Horno Leisure Center (Madrid), Kalian Hiri Kultur Gunea (Vizcaya), Plaza Sonora Festival (Madrid), Flamencura Festival (Segovia), Torrelodones Flamenco Festival (Madrid), Espantapitas Festival (Almería).

At an international level, most notable are his collaborations with institutions such as the Cervantes Institute in Bordeaux (France) and Brussels (Belgium), the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) in Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic), the Ministry of Culture and the Contamíname Foundation in Bamako (Mali), Municipality of Asunción and Casa de Andalucía in Asunción (Paraguay); in addition to other courses in Berlin (Germany), Tucumán (Argentina), Marrakech (Morocco).

He has also given lectures at the Complutense University (Madrid) and at the University of Castilla La Mancha (Toledo).
