Nikolay Mihaylov is a teacher of classical guitar, chamber music and musical ensembles in National school of Arts „Panayot Pipkov” – Pleven.
For the period 2017-2019 his students won 14 first, 6 second and 13 third prizes in prestigious national and international competitions in Bulgaria, Croatia, Italy, Macedonia and Romania. Since 2018 he is a Deputy director for the educational and creative activity. Every year Nikolay Mihaylov participates in international festivals and competitions as a member of the jury, lecturer in masterclasses.
In 2018 he was awarded with one of the most prestigious awards of the Bulgarian ministry of Culture: a Golden century seal – the golden stamp of King Simeon the Great and a certificate for contribution to the development and promotion of the Bulgarian culture and national identity. In the same year Nikolay Mihaylov was nominated in the “Young Leaders of Pleven” – art category, an initiative organized by the Municipality of Pleven, and subsequently won in his category.
For the period 2013-2017 Nikolay Mihaylov was awarded several times for exceptional merits in the art field and a merit in the classical guitar development from Pleven Municipality, Rotary Club Pleven and international forums in Omis – Croatia; Sinaia – Romania, Kyustendil – Bulgaria and others.
Nikolay Mihaylov is a graduate of the National Academy of Music “Pancho Vladigerov” and in 2014 he graduated from his master’s degree in the guitar class of Assoc. Prof. Rossen Balkanski. Over the years his teachers were Assoc. Prof. Alexander Pumpalov and Lyubomir Anov.
During his studies, he created various formations and ensembles with which he won several awards. His film and sound design activities, reflected in several short films, brought him international participations and awards.
Nikolay Mihaylov is nowadays the founder and artistic director of the Pleven International Guitar Festival, which will be held for the sixth time in late November 2020.
